  1. Sounds pretty targeted. They knew what they were looking for. That sucks. Venture to guess there only 1-2 degrees of separation here.
  2. It was spring of 2007. But remember it like it was yesterday. Honeymoon in Anguilla. Staying at Cap Juluca. After a few days we took a ferry to Margiot for lunch and some shopping. Went to the LCDH. There was an older gentleman, think John Hammond from Jurassic Park, white hat, shirt, pants- behind the counter. Teeth could not be more yellow. I knew nothing about Cuban cigars. At this point was smoking Nat Sherman’s and Ghurkas thinking I’m the boss. I asked him for some help picking some stuff out. I got a 3 pack of Esplendidos, H Upmann DCs, some Siglo IV?, some RyJ Petit Corona that was almost green, and some Partagas SD4’s. That evening, I wanted to have something quick (to smoke) after dinner. We sat on our porch outside our room facing Maundays Bay. Stars were out. Nice warm breeze. Looking at the new supply the PSD4 stood out. Cut with a guillotine cutter. Draw draw leathery with spice. Lighting noted immediate hints of cinnamon. Notes of cream and baking spice dominated with toasted nut. Spice backed off and finished with some cocoa notes. Truly an amazing smoke. As I type can still smell that warm Caribbean air blowing. A memorable night. As with most firsts, this stick imprinted on my cigar DNA. To this day the PSD4 resonates the most for me. I have over 150 sticks of this marca alone in various degrees of aging and am constantly adding to the stack. Will have to dig through the archives to find the pic. Just one of me in the dark my wife took. Faint silhouette of me with just the glow of the cigar as a draw.
  3. Figured something was up when I checked my email this morning. Lots of goodies!!!
  4. For me would be Partagas Lusi and Monte#2. Now the Monte 2’s I did just get a box of doh to give another go. The Lusi I sell or give away to a smoking buddy at this point.
  5. About 10%. We have a great cigar bar that is part of best cigar prices nearby. Great hang out. Great food. Great atmosphere. Since they sell cigars I do feel kind of odd bring Cubans in to smoke there. They have no policy against outside smokes but I just feel weird. So I typically will have a NW that I got there or at an event they have. But still will take a Cuban stick there from time to time. any thoughts on that ? This Opus X was a miss for me. One note. Don’t finish. Very odd I I support the opus marcas in general. This CAP Amazon basin was amazing. A golf course stick can’t go wrong with a fat Fundy.
  6. A lot of their sticks have been getting some rave reviews. Going to have to check them out. They will have a tent at our next big smoke event at our box.
  7. Oscar Wilde-like descriptive. I enjoyed it. I saw a video somewhere where a guy got slit on the leg by one of these spurs. Hit an artery.
  8. I really want a box of E2’s. Eyeing up on BR. Hypothetically I would trade a box of Sancho Panza Gran Quixote’s LGR ABR 19 for these. I have a bunch of these. Am I doing it right?
  9. Be a lot more fun if there were some sticks in the box!
  10. Sounds fun. Master list up front so we can source the goods.
  11. Friday Saturday Fat Fundy on the course Sunday weekend cap Midweek smoke can’t go wrong! It's been a great couple of days for cigars!
  12. Cohiba Siglo 3 TAP OCT 22 cocoa and nut butter. An absolute gem. A reminder why we pay the premium for Cuban sticks. Can’t wait to give them some more age.
  13. I just made my first spreadsheet. I kept a paper log of what I bought. Was good to go over. I’ll update what’s going on list in real time. What’s going out not so much. Plan on full audit twice a year. If I sell a box I’ll take off list quick.
  14. Had my first RA this weekend in down form of RA Small Club Corona - absolutely loved it. Some real PSD4 vibes but a bit bolder. Fuller. Inspired, I picked up a box of RASS today from 24:24.
  15. Makes me wonder what costs more - 1) cost of handling cash and theft issues. 2) paying the banks and CC company vig for using cards.
  16. Picked these up here earlier this year. Was looking for a quickie as it is just at the verge of outdoor smoking weather in NEPA. Had this set aside as it had a small crack in the wrapper, figured I’d give it a go early. Typically, I let them age for at least a year before taking one out of the box. The rest of the box is very well constructed. Is a nice soft box press cigar. Has an oily Colorado red wrapper I would say. Some grassy notes on the dry draw. Upon lighting immediately note, ample smoke production and a very smooth easy draw (a welcome change compared to my last smoke). No construction issues with regards to the smoking experience. Enjoyed coffee and Coco notes along with some light cedar that paired well with Super Crema Lavazza coffee this morning. Midway the cocoa give was to some dried fruit hints. For its early age there’s no astringent or ammonia like quality, which is nice to see in a fresh box. More medium to full body than what I’m smoking lately, but enjoyable nonetheless. I don’t think there are a lot of Cubans that do a slight box press however I think because of the need to press it, it typically is wrapped a little bit looser which virtually ensures no plugging as I’ve never run into one that was plugged and also box pressed. I only have one box of these, but with how they are smoking so early, I have a feeling I’m going to need to pick up some more. Starting the 13th book in the Aubrey/Maturin series. Still not used to the slow start of all of these novels. But should get rolling soon with the Diane getting ready to head out to sea.

  18. For a cheap red can’t go wrong with the Coppola Claret. 20 bucks.
  19. So can we expect some Acid dirt or Eggs on 24:24 soon?
  20. Was on last night actually!! I took the picture to send to my sisters. We grew up watching this s**t.
  21. I swear the foot was dipped in apple pie. Cinnamon and apples. Delicious, overshadowed by two tobacco marbles making it a difficult smoke.
  22. He comes to events at our local box. Met him twice. He seems pretty down-to-earth and thankful for his success. His story, the way he tells it mind you, is an inspiring journey of hard work and right place right time.
