A considered opinion with truly neutral intent? How could someone take offence at that? The worst outcome is that Rob would have to wake up and delet the posting, right? Don't see how a PM can be 'relegated' or red-carded. So if you feel the need, then send away... Just because freedom of speech doesn't allow one to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theatre, doesn't mean you can't whisper it to the person sitting next to you, does it? As for the UK's "13 years of Labour in power...Total, utter, unmitigated disaster for the country's finances." I think that is an over-simplification of cause and effect. While Labour (equivalent of Dems here)had the executive, or power, in UK the GOP (UK's Tories) was at the helm here. Outcome to the economy was the same. If I don't save in times of plenty, then I have to borrow in lean times. And it's always more expensive to pay interest than to recieve interest.... -

Judging from the lack of replies it seems that people have learned to keep it civil, or there have been some very, very, very busy moderators! The issue of unlimited campaign contributions / unlimited add expenditures is surely to be interesting. I don't know what sort of regulations apply in Australia or UK, but it seems pretty unanimous that there is going to be a lot of cash flying here in the USA since the Supreme Court's ruling. If there is freedom of speech, and money is speech, then the more money one has, the more speech? Further, what makes something an add, and something else an editorial? As for your comments about the way parents vote. I vote in opposition to my father, as does my sister. Others I know vote the same as parent (regardless of party) and others have siblings that split. This relates to the GOP and Dems. Lack of knowledge of party manifestos, or names of representatives extends to both major parties here. As I'm willing to bet it does there. That video of ignorant Americans didn't supply party affiliations, but it would be silly to believe they were all one or all the other. Since we have had some obscenely low turn-outs at the polls in the last few decades, I suspect that many who don't know, don't vote. I hope that is the case. -
Live from the Humidor

That is the problem. They are a "big, bad" cigar; but in this case it's the bad bad, not the good bad. -

What, no picture? No box code? Not even a few words of description? I thought you all would have more time with Rob gone since you don't have to take care of him.... -

Upmann Robusto Travel Humi
el.barbudo replied to el.barbudo's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Thank you, Sepp, for being willing to undertake a side-by-side review. Enjoy Steamboat! Prez- It seems you consume a large number of cigars. You are very vocal about cigars which are less than expected. I take it as a good sign that you have no strong memory of them being bad. -
I've done a couple of searches, and thought I looked pretty carefully through the results, but I haven't seen a review on the contents of the travel humidor. Did I miss a thread? Are those who own them saving them for their great-grandkids? Is it just a big secret? Anyone? Anyone? My first thought is that they would be pretty good, comparable to the connie 1...

One ABR 08 RyJ Cazadores I had back in July had a pretty good kick, along the lines of a BCG or Punch DC, but in a smaller package. The SEP 08 Monte Sublime... Let me put it this way: My lady and I shared one in August. I'd say she had maybe 1/3 and I had the other 2/3, switching back and forth. She had to stop (not the first time, or the last, for her) and I was buzzing hard by the end. It is a big cigar, so should be expected, but it had a load of nicotine. I immediately ordered another box. I'm thinking I should get a box of the CF.

I've found newly arrived tubos to be too moist as well. When I get a new box, pack, single or whatever of tubos I generally remove the caps and store them in the box etc in the humidor so that they are somewhat exposed to the humidor conditions, but still protected by the main part of the tube. I think I remember reading something about tubos being excessively moist because they are packed in the excessive humidity at the factory and don't adjust quickly enough to the humidor storage conditions. They do have to be stored in the humidor, the tube is really just a colourful protector for, at most, a weekend trip. IMHO No matter how tight the tube seal seems, it ain't air tight and there is no humidity regulation in the tube.

Best Cigars of the week

I've got a box of the SW from '03, as well. They are very nice! Looking at the calendar I see that in the last seven days I have also had a Monte Sublime. That is quite a smoke! I'm glad I'm getting another box because they are sooo good. -
It's partly the time, I only smoke a DC when I have a 3 or 4 hour outside weekend project to do. For me a DC isn't practical for a weekday evening walk or grill because there isn't enogh time. Mind you, I only smoke outside. If I smoked inside I'd be quite happy to have a DC going through the evening.... I think a 10 count would be good, because I like to have a variety without breaking the bank. Keep the cabs as well, but give us poor punters some options. Quality? Here's how I'd rank what I have: 08 Punch DC 08 VRDA 08 SLRDC 07 RAG 08 HdMDC 08 Part Lusi I was suprised by the Lusi, two I've had were bland and had little smoke. Maybe just need some more time?

I've a box (DEB NOV06) of the Distinguidos in the humi that I haven't tried yet. Maybe this weekend. Anyone have any experience with that date? I have tried the Salomones (DEB OCT06), which was fair to middlin, and the Divinos (EMA OCT07) which was not so nice. While the entire line is mild, or subtle, they do have a certain 'what's-it'. Someday I'll light up one of the 2008 Piramides.... -

BEst of this week Bolivar Corona Gigante bought as a single from Czar in 2008. Very balanced and smooth with tons of smoke. Good Bolivar heartiness. I look forward to the box that is winging its way here.... -
Does she or doesn't she?
el.barbudo replied to Habanos2000's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
The girlfriend I started seeing in 2004 didn't appreciate my cigar smoking and would cough, wrinkle her nose (cute in the beginning) and complain..... She is now (since February) my ex-girlfriend! The new girlfriend and I enjoyed a Trini RE on Friday night and shared a Boli BF and San Crist Principe this evening. She also took a RASS back to her house a few weeks ago to smoke on her own. We also shared a Partagas D#5 Ed. Ltd 2008 about 2 weeks into the relationship. Ex-girlfriend didn't like cigars. New girlfriend does like cigars. Ex didn't. New does. I think I see a pattern. As the saying goes: If your wife doesn't like your cigar..... Almost makes the fact that the ex is still living in a $500K house that is half mine seem like a good deal.... Almost! -

I sent you an e-mail. How big is your humi (desktop, end-table, cabinet?) and how many days does the temp get to the point you need to cool? -

» Ok so now you got me wondering, just checked my box of No. 2s, SEP 07. » They also have the unembossed 06 bands. Again not too worried as the taste » on this particualr box has been excellent thus far. I agree. I have a box of #2, a box of #4, and a box of #5 all from 2007 but from different trusted sources and they are all un-embossed. -

Could Rob have arranged for this to happen as payback for your vacation? -
» You have no fear where Cigar-Czar are concerned. Guaranteed. » » Oh and welcome btw » » » mel39 I have not bought from Cigar-Czar yet. That is why I question authenticity of some of my stock. I find the fact that Czar is linked to this forum very re-assuring.

Would like to say hello to all the friends out there. I've been a fan of cubans for years and usually get mine from the casa in Canada when I visit. I've also bought a few on-line (but are they really real?) and have a nice little collection going.
