  1. See this reply from another thread of the same question:
  2. I went to FSU with Travis. Didn't know him personally, but had a couple classes with him. Seemed like a good guy. Glad to see he is doing well in retirement.
  3. Put up the Superiores for my local cigar club's blind review this month and all 14 guys loved it. So much so that the 3 of them ordered boxes and 8 others split 4 boxes between them. Haven't had the Extra, but the Sup is in my top 5. ULA box codes haven't let me down on anything I've had.
  4. Has anyone ever tried freezing with dry ice? Seems like this would be a fairly quick process, if it posed no danger to the cigars.
  5. They'll actually last forever as you can recharge them. I keep a handful in my humidor a and another handful in a Tupperware with a small container of distillers water. Every 3-4 months I swap them. I've had the same packs for a couple years.
  6. Really cool. My dad still has and uses one that I made for him about 25 years ago when I was in grade school.
  7. Short version: you can do more with wirelesstags than measure your humidor's temp/humidity Long version: I guess it depends on what your purpose is for purchasing. For me, it came down to this. I needed something to accurately give me readings of temp and humidity, without having to check 3 different places where my cigars are stored. I could have gone with an Ambient Weather WS-10, spent $50 and have a "home unit" sitting out (tacky) or in a drawer somewhere at home; but that would only allow me to know what the temp and humidity were when I checked it and not the other 99% of the time. This matters when setting up an active temp humidor like a wineador or have thousands of dollars invested in cigars and wouldn't mind a little more assurance that you're keeping them stored correctly. Wirelesstag was $60 more and allows me to do much more. On the cigar front, when coupled with Wemo plugs, it can replace an electronic temperature controller, runs fans when humidity is higher in one area than another, or turn on an LED light when you open your humidor. If you like to tinker or enjoy electronics or enjoy customization, this is for you. Additionally, wireless tags can be used for many other things I planned on doing anyway. For example, I'm about to buy another tag that I'll use to detect movement of the garage door that will send a signal to a Wemo plug located inside the home to turn on a lamp anytime between the hours of 7pm and 7am upon my acknowledgement for when I get home late from work. I'll add more when my son starts coming home after school to know when he gets home and to use as a makeshift security system to turn on a wireless camera if there is motion detected at the front door. All that said, it may not be for you.
  8. Sure! I've linked to some screenshots below from this morning. As far as the settings go, you can set it to check temp/humidity anywhere from every 30 seconds to every 4 hours. I have it set up to check every 10 minutes and to alert me should the temp/humidity move outside the parameters I set (62-69 for both temp and humidity). I've only had it for 3 months, but I am still on 93% battery. Reviews I've seen say anywhere from 4 months to a couple years. I'd be perfectly okay with either as they take the cheap disk/watch batteries, but it seems like I'll get at least a year out of a set of batteries. My tags are out in the open air so there's a decent amount of fluctuation since it is measuring the air. When I put the tag in a cab or box, the temp/humidity stays pegged on 66/65. http://imgur.com/a/6TuvQ
  9. I have been using wirelesstags and love them. UI on iPhone is simple.
  10. I really can't say enough good things about it. Mine were calibrated right out of the box, but they can be calibrated, if needed. Readings can be taken anywhere from every 30 seconds to 4 hours. The graphs are cool to look at as well. Couple this device with an electronic temperature controller and you can really dial in a wineador. Only problem I've found is it can be addicting to look at and follow throughout the day. Each tag also has a motion sensor, should you want to keep tabs on whether someone went in your stash while you weren't there. If you wanted, you could program a wireless camera to turn on anytime motion was sensed and set it to record for a certain amount of time after the movement was detected and send the video to your phone. That's getting a little crazy though.
  11. I've been using a couple temp/humidity "tags" from wirelesstag.net in my wineador. Pricier, but it's a pretty cool device that allows me to monitor both temp and humidity on my phone. So many options with it too. For example, in a large coolerdor/wineador/cabinet, you could program it to interact with a wemo plug to turn on a small computer fan for a couple minutes anytime the tags, placed on opposite sides of the storage device, measure a humidity difference of more than 3% or the difference in temp is more than 2 degrees.
  12. Bias aside from living in Tallahassee and being a lifelong FSU and Bucs fan, Winston without question. Outside of Luck he is the best QB prospect since Peyton. I have no doubt that he'll represent our Bucs well. I envision his career falling between Dante Culpepper and Kurt Warner.
