  1. Sad and shocking news
  2. Interestingly enough, the first few I had out of an STA Jun box were not strong. In fact, I thought they were pretty bland. The last one I smoked in early October of last year had really come around to a flavorful, balanced smoke.
  3. Happy, happy birthday, Guy.
  4. Yes. I used to smoke quite a few Flor de Selva El Galan. A very enjoyable perfecto.
  5. Paris Pros -- the cafe culture -- beautiful city -- very walkable and with good public transportation -- tons of cultural stuff from the opera and the big museums to very small, say 40 seat, performance venues and store-front galleries -- fresh bread everywhere (even though Parisians say you can't get a good baguette anymore) -- it was easy to become a regular at the cafes and restaurants in our neighborhood -- you can smoke a cigar at any cafe/bar/bistro terrace -- train travel from Paris to London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Marseille and many other cities is easy and fast if not always cheap. Cons -- the winter months are solid grey and overcast and drizzly -- no decent Mexican food -- they all speak French here
  6. Ramon Allones Celestiales Finos. The first few out of the box were bland. They have really come around. This one was outstanding.
  7. Had one from '03 last week. Outstanding. The one or two I've had from 2011 are also good.
  8. Thanks a lot. I haven't done any cigar art for quite some time. For a while that was all I did, now I work with other imagery, textures and colors. Funny though, I'm still drawn to those rich reddish browns of a great looking wrapper. After looking at my gallery there on deviantArt, someone told me it made her want to eat chocolate and drink coffee -- but not smoke a cigar.
  9. Thanks for the kind words.
  10. Not sure these qualify but some of mine are here: http://crussol12.dev...paign=printstab There are three or four others on page two of the main gallery.
  11. I go along with the Frye boot recommendation. Also had a pair of Red Wings that I loved but they finally gave up the ghost. What about Wolverine 1000 mile boots? Just got a pair. Not too sure about them yet but seem to be pretty good. One of these days I'd like to try a pair of White's Boots but I think you need to get them custom.
  12. What with one thing and another, I think I've had only two cigars in the last four or five months. I enjoyed the bejeebers out of them and am looking forward to the next one . . . I just have no idea when it will be. Guess that puts me on the smoke to live side. Maybe worse is lately a few times I've thought, "This would be a great afternoon for a cigar." Then I get sidetracked and forget all about it and don't miss it.

  14. Books. Lots of art books. A Mel Bochner exhibition catalog. A book on the collage artist Jess One about abstract art called Pictures of Nothing Andrei Molotiu’s Abstract Comics. plus others and a few popular science books
  15. Never pet a burning dog. -- unattributed
  16. Here's wishing you a great birthday, Guy.
  17. On the Avenue George V a little off the Champs Elysses.
  18. Cubana Cafe at 47 rue Vavin, in the Montparnasse area. I think some of the larger hotels have smoking areas, enclosed, in-door patios. And, of course, any terrace if they have their outdoor heaters fired up.
  19. . My guess is that mens grooming and grooming products are becoming so mainstream that the term metrosexual will be irrelevant in another few years, if its not already so. Just look at whats on the shelves in your local drug store or wherever you buy your shaving cream/soap. .
  20. Wow. Very nice. Sure to be a hit at the herf. What kind of print? Giclee?
  21. Never, ever, would I think of myself as a musician but I play a little blues harp. One of the best presents my wife ever gave me was a small, rebuilt vintage reverb amp. And the bullet mic to go with it. Watch out,Charlie Musselwhite. I brought a bunch of harps with me to Paris but left the amp in NYC.
  22. Duct tape, I never travel without it.
