Ginseng Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Hi guys, Over the last few years, I've been collecting Habanos tubos and now I'm pleased to present what is probably the end point of my quest. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this project. It would not have been possible without the assistance of Habanophiles from all around the world. After I've collected as many as I reasonably think I can get, I plan on putting them in a shadow box and hanging them on the wall. I don't know what I'm going to do with all the new tubos slated to come out. I'm edging toward not collecting them for as attractive as some of them are, the tubo has gone mainstream and I just can't keep up. In fact, I think I gifted my box of RyJ Tres Romeos. That is why they are missing from this photo. To date, the only tubo that still eludes me are the Partagás Personales and Por Larrañaga Lanceros. Here is the collection as it stands today. The full 6MP image is attached. 73 tubes in all counting the missing Romeos. Of note are the Cifuentes Cristaltubo, Partagás Cubans and Cubanos, La Corona Petit Coronas, and the Por Larrañaga Petit Lanceros. Thank you to all the generous individuals who have helped me in my quest! Colt45 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Nice collection. I must admit that I prefer the older silver tubes to most of the newer ones. Fashions come and go - classic never goes out of style.....
mkz Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Nice collection! It wouldnt be complete without the Guantanamera-tube...
Ginseng Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 Nice collection. I must admit that I prefer the older silver tubes to most of the newer ones.Fashions come and go - classic never goes out of style..... I totally agree. There is something understated and classy about a bare brushed aluminum tube adorned only in the sparest of fashions. There is a monolithic, substantial quality to their all being the same except for the specific brand insignias. It wouldnt be complete without the Guantanamera-tube... Indeed. Gotta love that UPC code. Wilkey 1
Rogers72 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Awesome collection Wilkey! You have a a great deal of history there. I would continue collecting any new ones that come out and you could always start another shadowbox and call it "Tubos 2009-Present" or something like that. It would be a shame for you to grow old and then wish you had done it and then have to try to go back and get all of them that you missed.

When do I stop and say, "This far, no further!" I find it hard to give up any of my hoarding hobbies. That being said, don't stop the collecting Wilkey!
MikeHoncho3133 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Nice collection Wilkey.. Have you had the pleasure of smoking all those cigars?
Ginseng Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Nice collection Wilkey.. Have you had the pleasure of smoking all those cigars? I'd say I must have smoked about a third of those, Mike. Wilkey
jadawin Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 very cool! I tend to save pretty much everything cigar related, boxes, bands, tubos etc. i should actually do something with all this stuff one of these days.
BonVivant Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Great collection and my favorite is Por Larranaga and I have no idea why...It is just a feeling, i guess
Maplepie Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Bump whilst searching for a review/ taster of the Cifuentes Cristales Tubos. Wilkey, I see that your tube is empty. Was that your doing? If so, how was it? Also... I love that collection! I only wish cigars nowadays came in those Cristales tubos of yesteryear instead. But now, it's become rather novel with the only cigars like that being the (*shudders*) Guantanameras. Has your collection grown much in the past 5.5 years??
Ginseng Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 The collection rounded out just a bit more. Alas, I received the Cifuentes empty. The Dunhill Estupendos is full though Here is the thread where I finally framed selected tubos in shadow boxes: Ginseng's Tubos Framed Wilkey
Maplepie Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Alas, I received the Cifuentes empty. The Dunhill Estupendos is full though Ack! Nary a site has a review of the Cifuentes Smoke the Estupendos, though! What are you waiting for!?
smokenj Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 That's a nice collection. I have a GIANT mason jar (maybe 24" tall) that I have filled to the brim with bands and a handful of tubes. I need to order a second one. Congrats on the collection!
CoCigarSmoker Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Absolutely amazing, my inspiration!! cheers, Seth
