Bob Loblaw Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Has any one ever noticed writing on the inside of your bands? Any significance?
Colt45 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 » Has any one ever noticed writing on the inside of your bands? Any » significance? I can't say I ever recall seeing it, but I'll keep an eye out from now on.
First Lady Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Can you post a picture.....This will be interesting to see :-) Lisa
El Presidente Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I am guessing that if you line up all the bands from your box 1-25 and put all the writing together it would say: I Have an uncle who works in el laguito and can get Cohiba's very very cheap for you e-mail me miguel@ faux cohiba .com .es Best Quality!
jakebarnes Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 » Has any one ever noticed writing on the inside of your bands? Any » significance? first off, i like your name. well done with the arrested development reference. ... i dont have any writing in mine... or that i think. I really dont pay attention. I like the smoke more than i like the bands. Pete
zuma Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 » Has any one ever noticed writing on the inside of your bands? Any » significance? Hmm... I have just checked a stash of bands from Cuban cigars recently smoked (all from trustworthy sources) and of a couple of Fauxibas brought by a friend in a visit to Nicaragua ($5 for 5 robustos, he does not smoke cigars and was being cheaply nice... ). None of them had any writing on the inside. What did you read in them? Now... perhaps we are seen the dawn of Chinese Fortune Cigars with nice proverbs and advise in the back of the bands!
Bob Loblaw Posted May 18, 2007 Author Posted May 18, 2007 Unfortunately I did not keep either of the two bands I've noticed this on. I can't even remember which cigar I saw the first one on was but the last one was on a PSD4 (the authenticity of which is beyond reproach). The number 385 was hanwritten in ballpoint pen on the back of the wrapper. The previous cigar also had a 3 or 4 digit number which escapes me now. I will keep my eyes open and if I come across this again I will post a photo. Thanks Goran
The Wise Old owl Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I remember seeing the number 48-52 on a cigar band before, on the outside part that is lapped over when the band is applied. I assumed it referred to the ring guage.
PorscheC4S Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I remember seeing something similar on the backside of a SLR DC band while listening to "Stairway to Heaven" backwards. "Here's to my sweet Saint Luis."
tacmedic Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 wow, speaking of coincidence....found the number 400 handwritten on the back of a VR Famasos band just 2 days ago...had never seen it before and was wondering about it...and the vendor is beyond reproach:-D
CasaSoho Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 » Here is one from an HU no.2 '06 that a friend gave me. Genuine with no » doubts to its authenticity. » » » edited to add: I've seen this once before, I just can't recall the cigar. I had a Siglo IV gifted to me by a trusted source that had the letter "E" written on the inside in blue pen. It's currently buried somewhere in a glass jar of bands I have up on a shelf. I'll see if I can carefully remove it with out messing the other bands up and post a photo.
El Presidente Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 » I wonder if these are printer's marks of some kind. You guys have me intrigued :-) If I can get 1-2 more examles with photo's I will shoot off to HSA for some research and explanation.

Rob it is most likely the rollers passing love notes and arranging for sexual favors after work. Do any have odd odors?;-)

El Presidente Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Thanks for that Casa. I will shoot it off to Habanos s.a with the other photo's for a definitive answer.

CasaSoho Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Rob - While looking through a few items the other day, I found this band again. I was wondering if anything ever came of this?
laficion Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Has any one ever noticed writing on the inside of your bands? Any significance? I have never, ever, seen this on any of my habanos. Only time this happened to me was when, on purpuse, I got myself a box of Fake H upmann Mag 46 just to check out the taste, They were pretty bad, anyway, there was no marking on the band but on the cedar sheet inside there was a no. marked in yellow chalk. Rob, It would be quit interesting to see what HSA has to say about this.
Matthew Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Got thousands of bands saved (I toss them into big glass vases and they look pretty cool), never noticed any writing...
DocRKS Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 All my Partagas bands all have the number '666' written inside of them..... They are a helluva good smoke.....
