JohnS Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Hmmm...Cohiba Media Siglo, Romeo y Julieta Club King and the Partagas Coronas Gordas Anejados. Some nice medium ring gauge cigar to look forward to, but I'll believe it when I see it!
ElAbogado Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Cohiba Media Siglo.... you have my attention.... 2
NSXCIGAR Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Some interesting items on the list...but as usual some head scratching too. Looks like the Partagas Capitols may be a mareva, which the original Capitols was not (petit cetros). Why not just bring back the Petit Corona? It already has a following. And apparently the RyJ Club Kings will also be marevas, this time like the originals. But another petit corona in the RyJ lineup? Good grief. Cedros DL 3/Coronitas EC/Mille Fleurs/PCs/Regalias DL/Romeo 2/Club Kings--that'll be 7 RyJ models classified as petit coronas. HSA getting back to the 70s here... What's insane is that RyJ already has 6 petit coronas and most marcas have none. Glad to see the Partagas mareva back but can a brother get a petit corona for RA or Punch? 2

The Romeo y Julieta marca is one of Habanos S.A seven global brands and one of its biggest sellers, with possibly 15 to 20% of its annual sales. Hence why there are so many petit coronas in this marca, and barely any in the 12 local brands (only Juan Lopez, La Flor de Cano, Por Larranaga, Rafael Gonzalez and Sancho Panza have current production petit coronas cigars). Amongst the five Multi-local brands (Bolivar, Fonseca, Punch, Quintero and Vegas Robaina) all marcas have petit coronas cigars except Vegas Robaina, but that is another story.
monkey66 Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I won't miss the Monte Dantes this timeThere has never been 'Monte Dantes' before to my recollection. If you are thinking of the Edmundo Dantes then these were nothing to do with Montecristo (according to their creator Max Guttmann). 1

greenpimp Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I seem to remember Max Gutmann saying he had them blended between a Montecristo and an Upmann. That is most definitely what mine have tasted like, anyway.
greenpimp Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 And I will be all over the Partagas CGs. 1
Lotusguy Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Not holding my breath - recent release pricing has been between ridiculous and ludicrous. Example: Monte Medias Coronas that cost more than Monte #4. 4
Duxnutz Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 What I wouldn't give for a ED 109 re-release!!! 2
ThatAlfonso Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Probably no information on proposed sizes yet? Some of these sound interesting/tempting but I am guessing most will come fatter and shorter than I would like. The Dantes above grew from a 50 to 54 ring gauge in four years. Scary to think how big the next one will be.

ZAZ Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I'll be interested in the Cohiba and Monte Dantes for sure.

Al3xanderdelag Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I hope to not see the day where we get a 6x60 cuban cigar, I get enough of it as it is in America

When one thinks about it the whole Monte thing is a red herring. 1. You can buy Monte's in Mexico, no copyright issue. 2. Regional program does not include Montecristo in any event! 3. Listen to the interview with Max Guttmann, the inventor of the La Casa format and designer of the ED range. At this point the debate is over. 4. Show a single piece of documented evidence to support the Montecristo argument beyond 'hearsay' (which is what I believe Trevors information is based on in this case) Just because a rumor is widely believed it does not make it true. 3
monkey66 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Text from the interview here. http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfeatures/show/id/Cigar-Diary-Mexicos-Cigar-King_9083 #Trevor - Time to update the entry, and put the Monty misunderstanding to bed? 1
Ryan Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I saw samples last week of the Cohiba Medio Siglo and the Cohiba Oro (majestuoso) 58 X 150. No sign yet of the Cohiba Platino, 60 X 178. Lots of rumours in Havana that the Platino will be a 62 rg. I have a feeling, a feeling, that it will be 60 X 178. It doesn't really matter anyway as I will never, ever be buying any.
