Popular Post tmac77 Posted November 26, 2014 Popular Post Posted November 26, 2014 Partagas Selección Privada Edición Limitada 2014 Box Code: ARG OCT 14 Pre Light: Wrapper: Dark mottled wrapper Feel: Solid hard to the touch Aroma at cold: Slight barnyard/coffee scent at cold Cut: Punch Cold draw: quite tight, earthy flavour Draw after lighting: a wee bit tight but good. 1st Third: Medium body to start off. Quite earthy, hints of dried mushrooms and hay. very subtle white pepper spice. Some leather and a faint sweetness of corn syrup a bit more strength in white pepper spice into the last of the 1st third. A pretty damn good first third to start off this cigar. reminds me of an old luisi.... interesting. 2nd third. Slight increase in strength. Toasted sweet tobacco with a nice bit of white pepper spice, pleasant earthiness and leather. Very nice balance. Last third Was expecting this young cigar to get some bitterness and tannin's into the last third but this has not yet occurred. It has however picked up in the spice department with a nice white/cracked black pepper blend now and the corn syrup sweetness is now more of a molasses flavour. Getting into the latter part of the final third now. Spice has picked up with some very faint tannins but not over powering nor unpleasant. Smoked it down to the nub. Overall This started off Medium and finished full bodied. The cigar remained smooth and well balanced with the right amount of spice, earthiness and faint sweetness. The distinctive earthy partagas flavour profile is very evident. Not quite the old pre-1995 one but definitely more robust than current partagas blends. I am giving this cigar a 91. Very good potential for aging. I would say that in 3-5 years this cigar will hit its stride and unless I am wrong should get to a 94. Box Worthy?.. Yes 6
Strada Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Good job Tommy Gunn! I'll have to burn one of my singles to find out
brownpeter335 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Nice review. Pepper returns in a big way early in the final third, its control above the other flavors.
Hoepssa Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Very good one, though all thirds you felt nothing fantastic, compares to the past, they always be classic after all.
nick2021 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Thanks for the review! I really want a box of these, has been hard to resist as I love Portages in general! 1
Ghabanos Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I think you pushed me to get a box... U work with Rob and team??? Lol
Optic101 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Great review. Waiting for them to settle a bit before trying..
brownpeter335 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Nice review! I have smoked it. I like its darkish colored wrapper that was smooth and oily but showing a few little bumps.
alloy Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I bought a box of these and have smoked three of them. I liked them so much, instead of buying a box of D4's, I ordered two boxes of these. Yummmmm...
Piligrim Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Very nice review! I've got a box yeasterday, but not tried yet
JohnS Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Included in today's 24:24 deals and boy did it go quickly! Great review!
Jay Hemingway Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Sounds like a fine cigar. Thanks for the review.

I've been meaning to re-visit this (and the 2015 Ramon Allones Club Allones) for a little while now. I remember that these were highly rated upon their initial release, consensually deemed the best of the 2014 Limited Editions, and I would imagine that would continue to be the case. I noticed you had scored a recent box. Well done to you, as I've noticed that they've disappeared 'off-the-radar' recently.

I've heard they have a lot of potential, albeit some say they were great ROTT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Mine are sleeping right now, haven't had one in a while (> 1 yr), so cannot comment as for current performance. For me, they got everything I am currently missing in a Lusi... 1
