ayedfy
H.Upmann No.2. Box code: MGA MAY 10. Vitola size: 6.1x52. Cold Observations: This looks beautiful. Wrapper is slightly loose at the seam but the overall construction is good otherwise. Cold aroma is quite herbal and vegetal. Draw is considerably tight, with some coastal notes (salt and sea spray) coming through on the cold draw. Opening third: Big dark tobacco starting things off. Dark chocolate, black tea and raw coffee bean dry bitterness. A little salty, but again not exactly a spicy saltiness, but more of a sea salt, and perhaps a dried meat direction (beef jerky, for example). Middle third: Bitterness being overtaken by an umami character. A creamy, slightly sweet element subtly weaving through the background. Toffee, caramel, honey, and an evolution of the dark chocolate flavour. Maintaining quite a full-bodied, rich complexity. Final third: Salty grilled tomato at the end, with the addition of dry woods (cedar and oak). Most of the sweetness has departed as it tends to at this point, however there's still a bit of the bitterness sticking around. Drop down to medium body. I've never been that gaga over Upmann to be honest, but after hearing so much about how better they are with some good aging, and being offered this oldie (by my standards) in a trade with another user, I went for it. Happy to report I wasn't disappointed. Not only was it one of the more favourable Upmann experiences I've had, it's also one of the better piramides I've come across. If they all came this good, I'd take it over a P2 or Monte No.2 any day. 91/
alxs25
Nice review ! Never had an H.Upmann 2 but surely would like to try one and see how it compares to my favourites Diplomaticos 2 and Partagas P2. Monte 2 have always seem to be a bit too aggressive at least for my palate
Colt45
One of those cigars I've always meant to try, but just never got around to trying...... Thanks for the review!

DougB
Great review, thanks. The Upmann no.2 is one of my top 3 favorite cigars...I had a couple of boxes with the same code and they were really fantastic. Wish they were still around. Thanks again. Good reading. Habanos2000
Another Upmann fan here that's never tried a #2. Glad to read a positive review.
ramon_cojones
My least favorite upmann personally, then again I don't really like pyramids and monte 2 and psp2 are no exceptions. You should take your pic a little further away as it will appear nicer that way. nice review
bassman
Thanks for the review. Used to love the 01 #2s, but later ones not so much. Not a big Upmann fan in general so don't try many. My favorites are a well chosen MC#2 and those amazing RA Super Ramon REs.
