brazoseagle Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 So today is proudly Texas Independence Day, so needless to say we partied hard. Lunch was a 14 hour smoked Brisket on mesquite, peach & pecan wood with a Crawfish boil & stuffed jalapenos, with Texas Wine and Keg of beloved Lone Star Beer. "You all may go to Hell, an I will go to Texas!" - Davy Crockett After a brief break, I went into supper: Snack: Well it was supposed to be for supper but we got hungry so we ate it before hand. Texas Gulf 8-count Shrimp. ( This means the shrimp are so big there are only 8 shrimp to a pound) Wrapped jalapeno and bacon and grilled!!!!! Steak: of course Texas Homegrown Prime Ribeye, Dry aged about a pound and a half. Recipe right here:http://www.friendsof...howtopic=107315 Dessert: I sourced some local Texas honey and honeycomb and made homemade Honeycomb Ice cream and homemade Honeycomb Creme Brûlée !!!! Awesome!!!!! CIgar: 2011 Hoyo EL Short Piramide that was parlayed into a QDO Superiores PCC Supper = Fantastic - by this time if I screw up a steak, I need to call it quits Cigar: Hoyo, a big let down. I was so looking forward to this smoke, and anticipating buying a 10 box. Not the case! It started out very harsh, like a Padron wrapped in a roof shingle.(not a good thing) Not Pleasant! I thought it might develop, but it did not. I tossed it after the first half. So I lit up a QDO Regional Asia Pacific Exclusivo Superiores. Very good, did not develop in complexity but was consistent from beginning to end. From the beginning was a perfect draw, producing a lot of smoke and the entire cigar was a musky buttery, butterscotch pudding. Cigar Rating: Hoyo EL Short Piramide = 85/100 QDO RE Exclusivo = 91/100 Choices, Choices It was at this point in time I tossed the POS! Hoyo = Roof Shingle QDO= Musty, Butterscotch Pudding

Puros Y Vino Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 David. Epic post. My nomination for FOH cigar quote of the year thus far. "like a Padron wrapped in a roof shingle" Too bad about the Hoyo. But I'm glad to hear the QdO smoked well. I have a few of those sleeping. Might need to fire on up soon. As for that honey ice cream and creme brulee'. I think that calls for a recipe post.
