CaptainQuintero Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Summer has finished in the UK! Seriously, the hissing and crackling in the second half of this video is the rain lashing against the umberella, I've sat here for an hour while this uploaded with wet underwear... Or watch in HD HERE I'm honsetly not sure how the dress boxes compare to this (Apart from being box-pressed), from what I've read it seems like a completely different stick. Definitely recommend you pick up a couple of the 2011 tubes to try. ------------- 36 tickets
Habanos2000 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Nice review, Capt. Q! I've fallen out of love with the RyJ line a few years ago due to other cigars just being better, for my palette at least. If I hear more rave reviews like yours I'll definately revisit them. thanks
benjaminbbush Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 GREAT REVIEW. I am expecting a 3 pack any day now
Rexyboy Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I'm no expert but the damage looks like it occurred when it was being put in the tube. The band may have caught the cedar possibly when the label was not dry. This would have explained why it was not picked up by the Habanos QC. As far as I know there is no machine labeling in the hand rolled CC's. Rexyboy.

It was serious damage though, the band was stamped into the cigar about 5mm
riazp Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 very nice review CQ, probably your best video review yet. These are solid smokes for me, always have these on hand in my humidor, they are usually 90-93 for me. If only RyJ could make more cigars like this...this is probably the one of the only cigars coming out of RyJ that have some consistency to them
fred170 Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I have a few left in my HUMI...Definitely a good smoke when aged
CaptainQuintero Posted June 25, 2011 Author Posted June 25, 2011 Thanks Have you got the dress box or the tubed riazp?
SCgarman Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Just curious as to what you paid for a single there in the UK approximately in US Dollars. I hear cigars are very expensive there due to high taxes.
riazp Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Thanks Have you got the dress box or the tubed riazp? I bought a dress box of 10, and yeah they are a bit more a boxpress shape than a round tubular shape. NYCgarman, in canada which is comparable to uk taxes, a RyJ SC goes for about 22 to 25 usd for a single

I hear cigars are very expensive there due to high taxes. I got the three pack for £45 including postage, that's internet prices though, probably £60 at B&M or in London £100+ easy Monte #2 are normally about £13 online, £20 in store and £40+ in London. Still cheaper than cigarettes though, not that I smoke them but packs are about £7.50 each.
Scdalak Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I feel the same way about R & J as I do about a first love. You can never duplicate that feeling again. One can only hope they move forward with the new factory and recapture the passion of years past.
asmith Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Great review Capt'n and dedicated to the cause by sitting through the rain.
