Thought I would share with you guys my attempt at growing my own tobacco (cigar strains) and rolling my own cigars just for fun. I don’t expect these to taste like premium cigars, as they haven’t been properly blended for taste… just a bit of each strain that I grew in the yard.

The leaves from the top part of the plant were used in the middle of the filler, leaves from the middle of the plant were for the filler and binder, and the big thin leaves at the bottom were for the wrappers.

I made up my own cigar press with slight tapered end. Without this the draw would be way too free and construction would look terrible. I was hoping the cap end would be a little more rounded, but doesn't affect the draw.

These are the final results not a easy thing to do, I had plenty of tobacco to practice with. The stick in the last few pics had the best wrapper of them all and they are double capped not triple.

Wow those look great and thats the first try. I been thinking about trying to roll my own just for fun. Been watching lots of videos on the internet about it on youtube(even the redneck one Tempbond posted yesterday but I think the only thing he had right was to drink beer while rolling) & have found some sites that sell cigar leafs. Anyway keep it up brother. Looks like you might turn into a master roller before long.

Sure mate, the seeds I purchased from coffinails.com the seeds I purchased were Connecticut Broadleaf, Havana and Connecticut Shade.

This company thetobaccoseed.com also sell seeds. Passed through customs without any problems, the seeds are so small thay probably didn’t show up on the x-ray

next step: print your own bands

I don't think I can make the cigar press myself, let alone the cigars. Very impressive :2thumbs:

Very well done! I am impressed with the quality of your rolling. I cant wait to hear how it smokes! Maybe the soil over there contains all of the magical properties of Cuba!

I have the same kind of plans as I'm going to grow my first crop of tobacco next summer. There's a lot to learn.
