I would not count them out yet. I'm sure plenty of American stations are weighing their options of acquiring them.

Laws in the states for one is innocent until proven guilty. Again, the full story has not come out and I am sure there are two side to it other than this report of an alleged assault stemming from a dispute over providing a meal late at night while working. Yet everyone automatically condemns the man before the sides of the story are revealed and a report of what actually happened. Instead everyone just makes assumptions of complete guilt because of his past conflicts. I guess I would have expected a more balanced argument on this site rather than the guy is 100% at fault and unbecoming of polite society. A segment of society that not everyone is privileged enough to enjoy I guess.

no doubt there is a great deal we don't know which may or may not come out, especially of the police get involved and he is charged. the victim may have simply told the bbc that if they get rid of him, that will do. or not.

and in most jurisdictions of which i am aware, past offences are hidden from the court. he will get the benefit of that, should it go so far.

but my issue is with this crap about a love tap and the suggestion that it is acceptable to hit someone, whether or not you are good at hitting someone. there seems no argument at all from either side that clarkson struck a fellow employee. there has been no suggestion of any form of self defence, to my knowledge.

you speak earlier of your dislike for bullies - and i concur 100% - but then defend clarkson. he is the ultimate bully, using his position to intimidate others. and now using it to hit someone.

there is no 'balance' is suggesting that is in any way acceptable and if you want something that is 'unbecoming of polite society', i'd suggest that you won't find much that exceeds striking another human being.

I think your right with Clarkson being a bully as I see his cocky attitude on the show how he runs people over there but....I'm not ready to let that producer off the hook either without knowing what was said. Producers can often be bullies in their own and very pushy towards everyone around them because of their position. The love tap term was used by me but in no way implied that it was ok, someone else implied that with their remark. I simply am not ready to deem one person guilty in this without knowing the story from both parties and decide on my own. With JC on probation after so many controversies it could very well be that the BBC simply were tired of him and wanted him gone (Maybe like Charlie Sheen). I'm sure the producer took some heat for past transgressions and who knows if he was looking for something else or intentionally pressured JC into doing it. To pressure someone until they snap and lash out physically is not difficult, especially when you know them. One knows what buttons to push and particularly how to dehumanize and demoralize them to put them in a state that they will snap. The BBC simply could have decided enough is enough regardless of who is a fault and just wanted to make the PR nightmare go away. My problem is if there should really be two people leaving.

agree with pretty much all that though to me, even if the producer has been a tosser, you don't hit him. at the very least, if he is trying to provoke clarkson, then clarkson has played right into his hands. and i suspect that clarkson is cleverer than that.

So if rumour is true, Top Gear as it stands has been undone due to a dispute between Clarkson and the producer OVER a hot meal, or lack there of?

I definitely don't condone violence, but I can appreciate working long hours and the need to eat and after a long days work, we all look forward to a hot meal. Could the Producers and organisers of the show have done a better job to look after their crew?

Of course, this is but one of many issues Clarkson has presented but inevitably, this is the straw that broke the Camels back.

Jeremy Clarkson hints Top Gear team may have a future outside the BBC

Jeremy Clarkson has hinted that the Top Gear team may have a future outside of the BBC, as he said the programme could "be back somewhere else". The former presenter thanked the audience for "coming to see an unemployed man" as he hosted a charity auction to raise money for Chipping Norton Lido. On Saturday, the Lido posted the interview with Clarkson on their YouTube page, along with clips of him leading the auction. In his first public appearance since his sacking, he told the crowd the upside meant he could now swear without being reprimanded.

Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson banned from launching new show until 2017: report

Currently, as many of us are aware, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are reported to be close to a deal with ITV and Netflix to start a new show based on the Top Gear Series. Unfortunately, the latest in the Jeremy Clarkson saga is that BBC have enacted a contractual clause which prevents the team from doing a rival show for 2 years, so potentially there will be no show until 2017.

Interestingly, I could not source this news from BBC's website today, but a search on their website led to the Yahoo Source.

If they terminated Clarksons contract, and those of the other 2, I don't see how the two year non-compete could be enforceable. That would be denying someone's livelihood. Maybe an attorney familiar with British contract law could comment?

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May share first look at new Amazon show

After a tumultuous six months, former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are back bigger and better than ever before.

The trio returned to work on the set of their new Amazon Prime show this week, in a deal rumoured to be worth $338 million which also secured former Top Gear executive producer Andy Wilman.

Clarkson was sacked by the BBC in March for assaulting a Top Gear Producer, with Clarkson and May refusing to return to work without him.

It looks like Amazon has spared no expense for the new motoring show, with Clarkson sharing a photo of the huge crew on Twitter on Thursday along with a wry caption taking aim at the BBC.

"With a skeleton crew, filming for Amazon Prime's new motoring show has begun," the 55-year-old wrote, posing with a Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren.
