Lant63 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I am writing this as my second review ever so I hope that it is received well! A slightly overcast sky in Southern Michigan, but the summer heat and humidity is not apparent, making for a lovely day for a cigar. Having just completed a six mile run for the Weight Lose Competition, and coming off of 6 days in a row working mid-nights I figured it was time to light up a big cigar. I just received a box of the Punch Platinos so I figured I would take it for a spin. This specimen comes from box 234/600. I was told that there was a slight blend change in boxes 300 and above, as well as in the second batch of 1000. Now for the Cigar! Pairing: Black cold french pressed coffee. Hopefully it is not to overpowering. Opening: Very woodsy on the front of the palate. The draw is firm, but just where I like it. First third: The wood keeps coming, mixed with a grapefruit note that is mouth watering. A slight uneven burn from lighting corrects itself in this very well rolled cigar. A sweetness is now developing especially through the nose that smells and tastes like a darkened caramel. This continues and a bit of the Punch peanut taste that I find in the marca is making an appearance. Smoke production is not very intense. I was afraid that the coffee was overpowering the cigar so I some milk added to it, and it seemed to meld much better. Second third: The wood is fading now, and some light herbal notes that remind me of ERDM are coming into play for a couple of puffs. The herbs last for only a short while and cocoa takes its places. The smoke production has increased quite a bit. The sweetness along withe the caramel are now in the background. the floral/herbal notes are coming back now, I am really enjoying the cigar so far. Final Third: The cocoa and sweetness has exited, and the floral notes have intensified as I enter the final portion of the cigar. More ERDM, fades a little Cocoa sweetness reappears for a couple puffs. Flavor is building to a very smooth finish. More and more ERDM. Final thoughts: A very smooth cigar. No harshness, even at the end. I was really enjoying the flavor profile for the first half of the cigar, but then it turned towards ERDM to much for my liking. If you like ERDM you will absolutely LOVE this cigar. I however am not a fan of ERDM. I did pay quite a bit for these. But I am currently working in a nursing home for hours in my Pre-med program, and it is nice to know that every experience has its silver lining. If you want to try some of these shoot me a PM and we can put something together. Presentation 15/15 Construction 24/25 Smoke production 8/10 flavor 1st half: 15/15 second half 8/15 Evolution 20 /20 Total : 90

sheppsea Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Very nice My parents went to India earlier in the year and I was trying to convince them to pick up a few of these, but they came back with nothing, and I love ERDM!
