To be honest right from the first draw the flavour just didn't sit well with me and apart from one point just before halfway i couldn't wait to finish it. In fact I nearly stubbed it out and lit up a Cohiba just to put things right in the world...but manned up and finished it hoping for an improvement that never came. Fuzz Posted March 31, 2014 Share Posted March 31, 2014 Smoked one 2 weeks ago. Will have to agree with Rob, the wrapper was a pain to keep lit. But the flavour profile was quite enjoyable. A light to medium bodied cigar, nice touches of pepper (initial third only), coffee and creamy sweetness. Would've nubbed it, but it got harsh in the last inch or two. Ken Gargett Posted March 31, 2014 Share Posted March 31, 2014 i am a very long way from cuaba's biggest fan - they discontinue punch super section 2's and continue to produce those nasty little worm droppings! but i liked the EL. have not seen one for a while but they were good when they were released. it was during one of our trips - the ones we smoked there and brought home - and so i sometimes wonder if perhaps we saw the pick of the litter, so to speak. but i have never seen one i didn't enjoy. something that can't be said about any other cuaba. Here's something to think about...The Mag 48's rise in popularity had a negative correlation to its recent price decrease towards the low $200 category. Coincidence? I suspect that at the approaching sub $200 tier pricing (where it belongs), there will be unstoppable rave reviews. Need more examples? How about PL Robusto's? They were received poorly, continued as such until it started its descent towards $260 category, at which point they were hoarded and heralded like the second coming. The market does not lie. People perceive and identify value more alike than you would think. I'll even place a prediction for you: SLR Pacificos. A very good cigar now, but other things must be had first at that price tier.
