El Presidente Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I always get a lot of correspondence as to this box code or another. I am fortunate enough to see a lot of cigars each month and literally open and inspect 800 boxes or so when looking at stock for members and LFTH. Let me know what you consider to be the "Hot" ie great box codes of the past year. I will comment on them where I can. keep in mind there are good and bad boxes in all box codes. Some are skewed to the left (poor) and others to the right (great) on the bell curve
El Presidente Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 TEB and MLO are certainly skewed to the right (quality) of the distribution curve. TEB more than MLO.
Ophidion Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 OGA has given me some incredible bolivars in '11
El Presidente Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 OGA has given me some incredible bolivars in '11 Have made some excellent cigars. However also plenty of dogs. On balance, just a shade above average as box codes go.
CaptainQuintero Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Had some excellent from BOU, construction not always great but spot on hits with flavours you want to look for.
LLC Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I've had some consistently good OGA RA Extra's and TEB Boli Simones.
mbrody Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 HQ and PSP have been excellent for me. I have to say, I prefer HQ.
coug28 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I've had some nice younger (2010) Monte and Upmann 2s from MOA.
mk05 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 ...great box codes of the past year. Other than SUB, I have really liked: RBA SAR MSE MUR
kodebusan Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I have a promising box of SLR Regios badged LAE
Smallclub Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 HQ and PSP have been excellent for me. I have to say, I prefer HQ.
Ryan Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I'm not much good at this but I have SUB on all the boxes of Upmann Royal Robustos I have and all the ones I've smoked have been great. The ones I haven't smoked look great. It has been the standout new-release cigar for me for the last couple of years.
ramon_cojones Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 ECA is not a code from "the past year"… I was messing around
bassman Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 TEB Using that again? I have boxes with that code from around 07-08.
cottierm Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I've got very good boxes coming from SUB and LAG. Best, Michel
mk05 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I have a promising box of SLR Regios badged LAE I figured LAE was a provincial, but RyJ Cazadores are coming from there, so it must not be...or Cazzy's are made everywhere.
kodebusan Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I was supposed too. I didn't see this code on another box yet.
Guest Robo Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 (OGA) Have made some excellent cigars. However also plenty of dogs. On balance, just a shade above average as box codes go. How does OGA compare to POL? Other box codes I noticed are good are: LAG, have some Serie D No 4 that are out of this world LEM, Awesome looking Monte #2 & #5; have the #5 which are smoking well and have No 2 in the mail RUE, have some du Prince that are really nice; also a lot of really nice looking des Dieux out there ROA, don't have any but the Monte #2 PSP looked amazing, also nice looking RASS and H Up No2 & Connie MLO, nice looking Epi #2 and Genios ABR/BUR, nice looking Juan Lopez SN2 and SN1
Kosh Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I have a couple of boxes of RG perlas from RUE. Hope I won't have to rue that.
